A vintage Beatles EP for “Long Tall Sally” will make a special reappearance for Record Store Day on Black Friday Nov. 28, a spokesman for Universal Music Group confirmed to Beatles Examiner Oct. 22. The EP, to be released in limited quantities, will include the tracks “Long Tall Sally” and “I Call Your Name” on side one and “Slow Down” and Matchbox” on side two. It’s the same lineup as the original British EP had back in 1964. And like recent reissues of Beatles original vinyl albums, this four track EP is also being released in mono from analog tapes, the spokesman said.
According to Record Store Day, “Long Tall Sally” was the fifth Beatles 4 song 7” EP to be released in the UK, but was the first to feature all new material. Vintage “Long Tall Sally” EPs are often for sale online.
To find which music stores will be selling the EP, go to the Record Store Day website and click the link for participating stores. You can find the participating stores in your area here. Each store, however, makes their choice as to whether they’ll carry individual releases so there is no guarantee all listed stores will have an individual item. Checking with the store nearest you is the best option.
Though no extras have been announced for the “Long Tall Sally” EP, other recent Beatles releases have had them. In-store early buyers of “The Beatles in Mono” vinyl box set received a free T-shirt. And Record Store Day says a free George Harrison lithograph has been available with the purchase of “George Harrison: The Apple Years” box set or any single title reissue at participating stores.
