“John Lennon’s Last Day”, a dramatic monologue by Irish playwright Stephen Kennedy, will be aired on BBC Radio 2 on Thursday October 8, 2015 from 10:00 – 11:00pm BST (2:00pm PST), Kennedy has told the John Lennon Examiner. The show pays tribute to the former Beatle’s 75th birthday, which would have been October 9. The story is told by Liverpool actor Ian Hart, who has played Lennon on three different occasions.
“John Lennon’s Last Day” centers around the day John was killed, December 8, 1980. The story is told through the actor’s narration, accompanied by actual archival recordings of Lennon’s voice and his music, bringing a sense of stunning reality to how Lennon spent his last day, and the things he said during interviews. Ian Hart “guides listeners through the events of that fateful day in forensic detail; his narration is combined with the voice of Lennon himself – both from archive recordings and from the music that made him a legend,” the press release states.
