The Beatles Story museum in Liverpool announced Jan. 12 it is now exhibiting a vintage show bill poster from a 1962 concert at the city’s Tower Ballroom with Little Richard headlining the gig supported by the Beatles. The show also featured Lee Curtis and the All-Stars.
Tickets to the show were 10 shillings and 6d then or 50 pence or roughly 76 cents USD today. The poster was unearthed in July, 2013, when workers were refurbishing a Merseyrail train station.
Anyone hoping that Paul McCartney or Yoko Ono might have a chance to get the Beatles catalog back under their wing after recent reports that Sony/ATV, which holds the rights to the music might be for sale, will be disappointed to learn that it’s not true, according to Billboard magazine which reported that in a news short Jan. 13.
