Mr. Peabody and Sherman

Beatles Hit Story (BHS)

“Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for May 10th, 1963.”

“OK, Mr. Peabody, but what’s so special about that particular date?”

“That, my dear boy, was when a song by the guitar-oriented pop band, the Beatles, “Please Please Me,” enters its 7th week in the Top 10 on the UK’s New Musical Express chart!”

“Wow! 50 years ago! Was that when these Beatles changed the world–as we knew it?”

“You are correct, and it’s been different ever since then, my curious music student.”

Beatles music history.1963 was also the year Beatle George does a favor for his buddies in the Rolling Stones.

He recommends the Stones to the Decca records rep, Dick Rowe, launching another, great rock ‘n roll band. In these early years, the Beatles and the Stones contributed to each other’s recording sessions.

1965 saw the Fab Four at work in the studio, recording “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” and “Bad Boy.” And this week in May of ’65, John, Paul, George and Ringo were shooting scenes in Cliveden House, Buckinghamshire for their forthcoming movie, “Help!”

Trivia Q: Who suggested covering the tune “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” for a record; which Beatle received this suggestion?
