Paul McCartney’s prospects for recovering from a reported virus that has interrupted his 2014 Out There! tour are very good especially for a man his age, a nurse who has experience working with patients very susceptible to viruses told Beatles Examiner May 20. According to McCartney’s representatives, a virus has forced McCartney to postpone all his scheduled concerts in Japan. Latest reports also says he will not play a scheduled show in South Korea.

“A lot depends on what virus he caught. Some viruses tend to last longer than others,” she said. If he’s jet-lagged, he’ll take a bit longer to recover. His age also plays a part. But he has been singing and playing and traveling for years, so he has more stamina than other men his age. He should be fine as long as he follows his doctor’s advice.”

On Friday, McCartney announced that because of his illness he was moving his May 17 show at National Stadium in Tokyo to May 19 after what was originally the second show on May 18 at the venue. On Saturday, both Tokyo shows were postponed. On Monday, the rest of the Japanese tour with the shows May 21 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo and May 24 at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka were also postponed.

Earlier Tuesday, Beatles Examiner learned the tour’s only South Korea concert on May 28 at Yanmar Stadium Nagai would also be affected by his illness. The announcement on the South Korean concert was to be made official on Wednesday. The Seoul concert was the final show before a two-month block of shows in the United States set to begin June 14 in Lubbock, Texas and ending Aug. 14 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, where the Beatles performed in 1966. Tickets for American shows, which are still scheduled, are available here and here.

McCartney fans have taken to social media and his official website to express their concern and best wishes for his recovery. A Facebook page specifically set up for get well wishes for McCartney now has really taken off. It now has grown to over 900 members from just 230 on Sunday.
