Beatles Hit Story (BHS) 1967

The Beatles string of #1 hits continue, the Green Bay Packers win the first Superbowl Championship, UCLA becomes the NCAA basketball champs, screen goddesses Raquel Welch, Diana Rigg and Jane Fonda make hearts throb…and the first handheld calculator is invented.

1967, the year of "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."What many Baby Boomers are doing is wearing out their vinyl copies of “Sgt Pepper.”

Singles hitting #1 in March: “Penny Lane;” in mid-August, “All You Need Is Love” went #1 and the last week of the year ended with “Hello, Goodbye.”

The 8th Beatles studio lp, “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” astounded fans on its release June 1, 1967.

Safe to say, the studio production techniques of the Fab Four and producer George Martin reset the bar for quality in creative record-making.

Retired rocket scientist and part-time brain surgeon. Ok, I also took some time out (four years!) to serve in the US Navy as a journalist. Continued a radio career in Seattle and southern California. Streaming radio and assorted podcasting keeps me busy. What a strange trip it’s been and continues to be!
